Of course we include grandmother's in this, because well duh they are the parent's moms. But what about those moms that adopted? They may not have gone through pregnancy and labor, but they are still moms. They deserve equal appreciation. They aren't better or worse, they are moms just like the rest of us. Yet that post really upset me because it completely left them out. I think I would be offended to some degree if I were an adoptive mother and saw that meme. I'm not saying all adoptive mothers are offended, or should be offended, just that is how I think I would feel if I was an adoptive mom. This does not mean that adoptive moms do or should feel that way, they have their own minds, thoughts and emotions. But I do think they deserve equal appreciation.
I'm not talking about being perfectly politically correct. All I'm saying is that giving birth does not a mom make. As the saying goes, any woman can be a mother, but it takes a special woman to be a mom. Thankfully, most of us fall in the latter category. So to ALL moms out there, no matter what kind you are, I hope you have a very special and happy Mother's Day.
